Facebook is looking for a Systems Tech Engineer Intern to join our Enterprise Application Privacy Solutions team in London. Enterprise Application Privacy Solutions is closely aligned to Facebook’s core mission: Privacy. Our focus is to ensure that third-party applications in the Corporate network are integrated with Facebook's core privacy systems and standards, through automation and scalable engineering methods. We build and maintain software integrations, tooling, and automation that delivers privacy controls for the software used by our internal business units. System engineers build strong relationships with cross functional privacy teams, vendors and engineering teams, while implementing privacy solutions across key privacy domains such as Asset Lifecycle, Data Understanding, Data Controls and Enforcement. We have many challenges ahead of us with the complexity of internal policies increasing, and we need you to help us scale our efforts and improve automation strategies. This is a 12 week summer intern opportunity, starting in June 2022.
Systems Tech Engineer, Intern Responsibilities
  • Optimizing systems and software for performance, availability, reliability, scalability and automation
  • Building strong relationships with customers and engineering teams
  • Extending the tools with functionality or performance related engineering and deployment automation around the world
  • Write and review code, develop documentation, debug complex problems, often in production
  • Combining open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business
  • Ensuring that the services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuing a BSc, MSc (or equivalent) in computer science or a related field
  • Understanding of code bases, including API design techniques
  • Familiarity with SQL and database modelling
  • Experience of using Python: data, web scraping, web apps
  • Understanding of web services, SOAP, REST APIs
  • Good knowledge of UNIX-based operating systems
  • Passion for systems design and architecture: being able to see the big picture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in configuration and automation tools (for example: Chef, Puppet)
  • Experience with containerized deployment (for example: Docker, kubernetes)
  • Experience interfacing with 3rd party software APIs
