The Audio Tech Team brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We operate on aggressive, fixed timelines to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. We seek an Audio Systems Tuning Engineer to join our DSP Architecture and Tuning Team. We expect you to be experienced in definition, tuning, and evaluation of audio capture and render solutions, including electroacoustics and signal processing, for productization of complex consumer electronic devices.
Audio Systems Tuning Engineer Responsibilities
  • Analyze, define, tune, and debug real-time audio system software for forward looking products and user experiences
  • Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies and undefined user experience targets
  • Define algorithms and tools with developers and coordinate their implementation
  • Evaluate and benchmark third party algorithms audio performance
  • Generate novel, innovative solutions to some of the toughest problems in audio
  • Maintain familiarity with various DSP platforms and the trade-offs of embedded implementations
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree in EE, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience with audio test systems such as SoundCheck or HEAD Acoustics ACQUA
  • 4+ years experience with defining and executing objective and subjective test methodologies for consumer electronics devices with audio features such as communication, voice assistant, music playback, video capture
  • 4+ years experience defining, tuning and testing efficient real-time audio algorithms
  • Understanding of how end-to-end audio systems work including acoustics, transducers, digital interfaces, audio ICs and DSPs
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in EE, Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Familiarity with digital biquad filter, IIR, FIR, Acoustical Echo Cancellation, Multi mic noise reduction, Microphone Beamforming, AGC, multi-band DRC, Psycho-acoustic Bass Extension, Microphone and Speaker Arrays
  • Experience in Acoustics and Consumer Audio EE Architecture
  • Knowledge of Music Enhancement Audio algorithms, telecommunication standards, human perception of spatial sound, machine learning techniques and/or neural network implementation
  • Experience developing audio algorithms
