As the leader of the Global HR Risk, Privacy & Compliance organization, you will have overall accountability for ensuring the People team has a robust and scalable risk framework to ensure legal/compliance requirements are met, people data privacy and HR processes are effective at managing key risks. This leadership role will have strong consultative, issue-identification, solutioning, and communication skills and will thrive considering concurrent projects while working with a cross-functional team to drive outcomes. We are looking for someone who is comfortable leading through ambiguity and juggling priorities while finding creative solutions to challenging business goals which balance business needs and compliance and regulatory constraints. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of privacy and compliance principles, who has extensive experience leading global teams, and has expertise managing risk in a large, complex environment across the globe.
Director, People Risk, Privacy and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Broad HR compliance and data privacy knowledge to identify, understand and mitigate levels of risk to the business globally
  • Strategic development of a line of defense model customized to Meta needs through close collaboration with cross functional partners to develop new and enhanced processes, and provide feedback on controls to mitigate identified and future risks
  • Development of a Common Risk & Control Taxonomy framework, ensuring consistent SOPs to understand “What we Do” both on a company and on an individual level, identifying emerging risks/trends and proactively develop and socialize strategies with cross functional partners to enhance the control environment and ensure HR is equipped to manage future risk
  • Serves as a key risk management contact for the People function with Meta’s Enterprise Risk Governance functions, including Risk Management, Privacy, Legal, and Internal Audit
  • Influence and drive large scale projects requiring multiple work streams and across a diverse set of stakeholders in multiple time-zones
  • Provide in-depth execution on employment law matters in coordination with the Employment Legal team
  • Represent Meta to external government agencies such as the DOL, EEOC, EDPB, and other international agencies as necessary
  • Manages the development and implementation of a framework that identifies, and assesses HR compliance and privacy requirements related to people policies, processes and data to include validating control design and operating effectiveness and tackling remediation actions
  • Provides leadership on all HR risk management matters for the People team. To include leading key global risk and compliance initiatives, such as internal process transformations, system implementation readiness, and organizational change
  • Partner with the People Engineering team when developing new products to ensure identification and mitigation of risks, data reviews and that regulatory requirements are met, providing appropriate read outs and escalations
  • Assist in the execution and oversight of regulatory change management, risk assessments, business process mapping, and root cause analysis
  • Establish ongoing and targeted compliance monitoring and/or testing, by regulators, internal audit, first line testers, and second line testers
  • Provide regular assessments summarizing the People team’s risk and control environment
  • Build strong relationships with Risk and Compliance Partners, Subject Matter Experts, Internal Control Partners and/or First Line Risk Management Support professionals to support new initiatives and risk identification
  • Identification and leveraging of internal talent to fill key positions, attract talent with required expertise to meet the needs of the business, build deep bench strength and develop appropriate succession plans
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in Human Resources, Compliance, Employment Law, Privacy and/or Risk Management
  • Experience in HR related legal/regulatory and compliance programs or Internal Audit with specific subject matter expertise and a business understanding of risks, controls and issues within Human Resources
  • Advanced level experience in a related role with extensive experience in business, functional and people management, with proven knowledge in taking responsibility for executing concurrently on a portfolio of high quality deliverables according to strict timetables
  • Extensive leadership experience building capabilities and developing high performing leadership teams
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex solutions and teams within a global and matrixed-reporting environment
  • Proven experience in engaging business leaders by providing proactive advice on a variety of matters while carefully balancing the independent requirements of the function
  • Effective stakeholder skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views. An articulate and effective communicator with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style
  • Interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of partners and stakeholders
  • Leadership skills with a proven record of accomplishment of making a positive impact on the organization
  • Proven use of communication, leadership and management skills to influence internal audiences including respective product, function, and partners including external audiences including external regulators and auditors
  • Possess a broad and comprehensive understanding of multiple HR disciplines and of various policies and standards, as well as areas of high-risk: conduct risk, project/program management, or third party management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree or Juris Doctor
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant labor and employment as well as privacy legislation
  • Senior HR Professional certification such as SHRM-SCP
