Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives to serve as a Lead Counsel on the Product Legal team that supports Facebook’s Ads and Business Product Integrity group. The position will focus on providing strategic and tactical legal counseling to management, and front-line support to the product and business teams that build Facebook’s business integrity products and tools. The ideal candidate for this role is able to work proactively, collaboratively, and is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. Lead Counsel, Product (Ads & Business Integrity) Responsibilities
  • Be the main point of contact for product and business team to assess legal risk and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products during their entire life-cycle across multiple jurisdictions with privacy laws and regulations, consumer protection laws, and other legal requirements
  • Analyze global products, features, policies, and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products during their entire life-cycle across multiple jurisdictions
  • Provide product and business teams with ongoing support for integrity efforts for Facebook’s Ads and Business Products – including developing scalable trainings, standard guidance, and other resources
  • Coordinate with public policy and communications colleagues on external communications, policy development, and enforcement decisions
  • Work cross-functionally with Facebook’s legal teams
  • Support escalations on advertising, actor and content assessment, takedown requests, and policy enforcement actions
Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)
  • Experience advising on legal and/or regulatory issues (including privacy) that apply to online advertising, e-commerce, social networking, or other related technologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house legal and product counseling experience
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks that apply to data-driven advertising or e-commerce
  • Experience advising clients on risk mitigation across technology product platforms, social networking, or other internet/platform companies
  • Experience with US and global privacy frameworks and regulations
  • Content liability counseling related to CDA 230 or similar international frameworks
