Software Engineer, Audio Applied Scientist - Reality Labs Responsibilities
  • Apply theories and principles of electrical engineering, computer science, and algorithm development to design and build echo cancellation, noise suppression, wake word, spatial audio compression algorithms and more in real world products
  • Define and build new algorithms and add enhancements to existing algorithms to support human listening, machine listening, and other new experiences for Meta’s consumer hardware devices
  • Apply an understanding of system engineering catering to embedded/mobile platforms to define the subjective and objective performance metrics for various core audio algorithm components that ultimately roll into program level KPIs
  • Tune and engineer algorithms that are built in-house and by external partners to provide high fidelity audio performance with negligible audio artifacts and to pass performance goals
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years software development experience including embedded DSP and audio algorithm development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how end-to-end audio systems work including transducers, audio ICs, acoustics, embedded DSPs, in mobile and embedded platforms.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and experience working across disciplines to drive optimal solutions and supporting cross functional teams. Experience with porting and optimizing C code to a target platform.
  • Familiarity with various DSP platforms and the trade-offs of embedded implementations.
  • Expertise with scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar.
  • Experience in any of the following areas: Embedded small footprint ML, Echo Controls, Multi mic noise reduction, Speech Intelligibility Enhancement, Microphone beamforming, ML, Blind Source Separation or Signal Separation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Expertise in audio signal processing and auditory perception, both classical and machine learning techniques.
  • Proven track record of innovation as demonstrated by products shipped, publications and/or patents.
  • Experience with audio system design including silicon through user experience.

$177,008/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
