At Meta, we’re developing the future of AR/VR. Within our Optics & Display Process organization, we are building a talented team of hardware engineers with competencies across a variety of fields. The Display Module Integration Manufacturing Engineer will be working closely with design, engineering, product, supply chain, program management, and external manufacturing partners to understand, develop and implement high-yielding, stable processes to enable the high-volume manufacturing of optics and display modules for AR. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in optics, physics, manufacturing or equivalent experience in the field with shipping optical components and modules in mass production for consumer devices. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, and are able to influence our research and development teams to push for operational excellence as we strive towards the mass production of complex products that integrate several novel, immature technologies.
Display Module Integration Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities
  • Operations lead in technical team responsible for cross-functional engagement with internal and external partners to support ramp readiness and execute processing and delivery of modules
  • Understand and influence end-to-end process flow, tool requirements, and interplay between design/process by engaging with internal designers, analyzing datasets, and forging relationships with our external manufacturing partners
  • Drive cost and cycle time reduction through line balancing, process optimization, and applying lean principles
  • Drive development and execution of plans for transfer of New Technology Introduction (NTI) to high volume manufacturing for our display module sub-assemblies
  • Communicate and drive accountability for specifications, manufacturing metrics, and line qualification requirements to external vendors
  • Work with internal partners to identify vendors and support vendor roadmap development for high volume production processes and equipment
  • Collaboratively own tool and process specifications with cross-functional team leaders
  • Support data validation for design and process robustness by evaluating limits of design/process windows
  • Partner with external vendor in troubleshooting, yield improvement, FA/CA and mitigating any technical issues
  • Influence process/equipment/site convergence as it relates to meeting design requirements and manufacturability targets
  • Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites as and when required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, Material Science OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of vendor management experience with demonstrated knowledge to navigate communication channels between internal and external partners
  • 3+ years of first-hand experience with end-to-end optical component and/or module processing, front-end and back-end processes
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in statistical process control and data analysis, using tools such as JMP, Tableau, Matlab, or equivalent
  • Expertise in and understanding of manufacturing and operational fundamentals, such as Quality Control Plans (QCP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Change Control Board (CCB), Material Review Board (MRB), Machine and Process Buy-off (MBO/PBO), pFMEA, overall equipment efficiency (OEE), units per hour (UPH), etc
  • Knowledge and demonstrated hands-on implementation of Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) concepts to optimize yield, throughput, efficiency, Cpk
  • Knowledge in KPIs of optical devices, such as brightness, contrast, uniformity, MTF
  • Knowledge of assembly equipment, processes, and materials
  • Effective communication skills with cross functional partners and management
