The Generative AI Org at Meta is seeking a technical leader to join our team and work on chatbots, characters and personas. Our team is responsible for making Meta the world’s preferred destination for building and engaging with characters. For Connect 2023, we launched a set of characters that users are able to message and engage with, including Dungeon Master, Billie, and Bob the Robot. In 2024 and beyond, we will be looking to scale our learnings to build a platform where anyone can create a character. Our ML team’s specific responsibility will be to deliver core LLM models that power the overall platform and user experience.
Software Engineering Manager, Generative AI - Characters Responsibilities
  • Grow a team of domain experts in LLM for chatbots and characters
  • Drive execution of developing models and systems that are crucial to the end user experience
  • Develop technical vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization
  • Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with clients and peer teams to facilitate cross-functional projects
Minimum Qualifications
  • Track record in landing product impact
  • 3+ years of hands-on supporting and leading teams of ML engineers/scientists
  • Proven technical vision in where the field of Generative AI will go
  • Experience with cross functional collaboration with product and platform teams, as well as non-engineering functions
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, leading technical organizations, including performance management
  • 5+ years of hands on experience in large language model, NLP, and Transformer modeling, in the setting of both research and engineering development
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in deep learning, artificial intelligence, and/or related technical field
  • Experience and knowledge of ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with LLM frameworks like LangChain
  • Experience and knowledge of training LLMs

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
