The Sensors and Systems Research team builds cutting-edge prototypes to demonstrate novel sensor technology that will enable the next great wave of human experiences. As a Sensor Software Engineer, you’ll work with world class experts in sensor technology to accelerate scientific discovery and generate viable paths to consumer products that will connect people in meaningful ways for decades to come. You’ll define and establish software systems that enable rapid prototyping and experimentation, and you’ll help build experiences that showcase the capabilities of modern sensor technology. Our team is comfortable with ambiguity, nurtures a sense of ownership, and embraces an honest and considerate environment. Software Engineer - Sensor Research Responsibilities
  • Design and develop sensor prototypes and experiences that allow research scientists to quickly model and explore design tradeoffs.
  • Partner with research scientists to deeply understand their problem domains and create the systems and tools that turbocharge their work.
  • Work with hardware teams, electrical engineers and embedded systems developers to interface with the systems used in sensor and camera prototypes.
  • Make informed architectural tradeoffs to rapidly deliver software solutions that help quantify and visualize sensor capabilities such as quality and performance.
  • Write clean readable code, debug complex problems that span systems, understand priorities and get things done with high efficiency.
  • Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years C/C++ experience, including C++11 (and up) features and principles
  • 5+ years experience with realtime 2D/3D graphics rendering, video codecs, image processing, camera/sensor acquisition or related systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Game engines such as Unity or Unreal
  • Developing AR/VR applications
  • Interfacing with embedded devices and firmware
  • Working with electrical engineers, FPGA or firmware developers
  • Experience developing C++ applications which run on a mobile SoC

$146,994/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
