As a Display Mechanical Process Integration Engineer, you will be a member of our RL Hardware Development Engineering organization, taking a lead in display module process development, mechanical development, and integration to set the technical goals, be the point of contact and interface to the product development team, lead the development of leading-edge technologies and designs, and work with the current and evolving ecosystem to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of innovation for our products.
Display Module Integration Engineer Responsibilities
  • Lead Process development of complex manufacturing practices including materials, process optimization, equipment, metrology and system design
  • Lead display module mechanical development to ensure robust system integration of display modules
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and external display partners to develop and deliver optimized display modules to meet product and yield goals and seamless product integration.
  • Identify risks, track and mitigate process and mechanical issues through various phases of module and product development
  • Design for Manufacturability to ensure robust design with scalable process and equipment.
  • Generate, provide, and manage technical documentation including 3D CAD, ERS, SOP
  • Perform FMEA for designs, technologies, new equipment and process technologies and provide risk assessments.
  • Define & implement rigorous equipment/process validation plan, CTQs, FAT/SAT, and standards
  • Lead the display module FAI and qualification process for engineering builds
  • Travel up to 30% internationally
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ year of mechanical design experience in display module with Ph.D or MS degree, or 7+ year working experience with BS degree, in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
  • Ability to understand mechanical engineering fundamentals: properties of materials, solid mechanics, statics, Newtonian physics, and heat transfer
  • Display module mechanical design with knowledge in front-end display process, back-end module process, manufacturing and product integration
  • Track-record of ownership in developing and delivering consumer electronics products
  • Experience to plan and perform DOE, statistical data analysis, yield improvement, root cause investigation with FACA and PA for engineering issues, and FMEA
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of LCD and OLED display module design, components, and integration
  • Direct working experience with display vendors and ecosystem partners
  • Design and development experience to meet product requirements of display modules and product/system integration
  • Good understanding of display module level trade-offs with mechanical, optical, electrical performance
  • Good understanding/experience in back-end module process development for display module with touch sensor, Cover Glass, BackLight module and electrical interconnects
  • Experience with simulation and analysis methods for process analysis, tolerance analysis, test and measurement data analysis
  • Experience with manufacturing techniques such as injection-molding, machining, bonding, lamination, die-cutting, forging, etc. and materials such as plastics, metals, glass, etc
  • Design and prototyping experience in electro-mechanical or mechanical parts for high-volume, reliable products
